Patients looking for health insurance in the Denver Metropolitan County Individual Market will soon have new options that include UCHealth, CU Medicine, and other network affiliate providers.

Open enrollment begins Nov. 1 on Connect for Health Colorado, the state’s health insurance exchange, and people will be able to choose from a variety of plans that go into effect Jan. 1. Last year, a plan that included UCHealth was pulled from the exchange, leaving some patients with no options in the network. Over the past year, UCHealth has worked with hundreds of people to get their health insurance plan approved to continue seeing their UCHealth and CU Medicine providers.

Individuals in most metropolitan Denver counties will be able to choose from two plans on the exchange for the 2022 plan year that include UCHealth and CU Medicine:

  • A new plan called Choice of Oscar Colorado partners will be available on the exchange with a start date of January 1. This plan will include UCHealth, CU Medicine and other network affiliates.
  • The original Anthem path the plan, which was scrapped for 2021, is added back to the swap. The plan will be available during open registration with a start date of January 1 and will include UCHealth, CU Medicine and other network affiliates.

“Connect for Health Colorado allows individuals to research their doctor or healthcare location to make sure the plan they choose includes the provider and location in the network,” said Dr. Peg Reidy, director UCHealth Medical Center. “We believe that patients should be able to choose where to receive their care and should be able to continue to see their trusted medical team. With these new options on the exchange, patients will be able to make this important choice. “

Open enrollment runs from November 1 to January 15, and plans have effective dates of January 1 or later. Premium grants may also be available depending on the income level of an individual or a family. Individuals can also compare different plans and benefit levels to determine the best option for them. Most other areas of Colorado already include plans on the exchange that include the UCHealth network.
