HSBC Asset Management recruits DWS for an Asian real estate team

HSBC Asset Management has recruited Victoria Sharpe to lead its new real estate team in Asia.

Sharpe (pictured), who joined the company in early September from German asset manager DWS, will be based in Singapore, reporting to Joanna Munro, CEO of HSBC Alternatives.

She will be supported by two new recruits Lionel Low and James Bartlett.

Low joined Ascendas Asia Real Estate Fund Management, where he was Executive Director. During this time, Bartlett was employed at DWS, where he was Deputy IT Director of Real Estate Asia Pacific and Head of Real Estate, Australia.

Munro said: “The appointment of Victoria and the team is further proof of our commitment to growing our Alternatives business in Asia and providing locally invested real estate exposure to our global client base.”

In June, the asset manager consolidated all of its existing alternatives businesses under a single HSBC Alternatives unit, with combined assets under management and advice of $ 45 billion.

Sharpe added, “HSBC AM’s commitment to growing its alternative business and the Asia-Pacific region were key considerations in our decision to join and we look forward to bringing real estate capability directly to our clients.
